Good afternoon friends – if you are receiving this email, you signed up with me at the welcome center to work on the new building this Saturday, October 8th, or have expressed interest in helping with construction on an info. card, or I think you might want to know about this.  I’m touching base with you to let you know in a bit more detail what we will be doing on Saturday.

What we will be doing:

First, we are going to FEED YOU with an amazing breakfast starting at 7:30.  There will be plenty of protein, carbs, and caffeine to get you going, so just roll out of bed, put on your work clothes and head on over to 4200.  The sooner we get started, the sooner we will be finished, and you’ll hopefully still have plenty of Saturday left to do what you normally do.  After breakfast, we will have a short devotional provided by my hubby – Len.

These are the tasks that we are planning to tackle after breakfast:
  1. Paint the fellowship hall and maybe part of the foyer, depending on time and number of coats it takes to cover the walls.
  2. Sand and stain the cabinetry in front of the kitchen, in the nursery, and in the preschool room.
  3. Deep clean several areas of the building including some of the preschool room, children’s room, and kitchen.
  4. Organize and inventory kitchen and storage room to the left of stage.
  5. Landscape the Centerfield Drive side of the building.  The gravel is getting moved back from the building this week, so we’ll be ready to plant some shrubbery, flowers, and put down a nice layer of mulch.
  6. Take out some of the old, overgrown landscaping on the front of the building.
  7. Apply Round-up to all the areas of the parking lot that are being invaded by grass.
  8. Paint and recover some of the worship center chairs.
We will break up into work groups and hopefully have everything detailed out so you will know exactly what needs to be done.

What you need to bring:

Wear old clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty or painted.  Wear closed toe shoes such as tennis shoes or work shoes.  NO FLIP FLOPS.
If you have paint and gardening supplies that you would like to use, please bring them.  I will buy roller covers and other supplies, but if we don’t have to use them, I’ll be able to return them and get our money back to use for something else down the road.

Items we would like to borrow:
Chainsaw
Small Air Compressor (like a pancake compressor)
shovels
rakes
painting supplies (roller tray, rollers, brushes)
Chain to use with taking out old shrubbery

Does this sound like a lot?  Well that’s because it is - but I’ve seen you guys at work, so I know what you are like when you set your mind to something. We may not accomplish everything and that is okay, but we are going to give it a try.

Please forward this on to anyone you think might be interested in helping.  Remember, teens, this day could count for Beta hours or other community service hours!

Can’t wait for Saturday!  Email me with questions.

Love you all – Mary Ruth
