Growth requires Exercise, Rest, and Fuel ... today I wanna focus on Fuel ..
If you don't fuel your body properly you won't grow as well as you'd like. The same holds for our spirits. If we don't fuel our spirits with worship, Bible study, prayer, and deep connections with Christ-centered friends we won't grow like we could. And, I want to invite you to fuel yourself better with three things: 1. prayerful reflection on your sermon note cards 2. Read 'The Me I Want to Be' and 3. Take the MONVEE journey with Phos in a Group beginning the week of February 21.
1. I'd invite you to really use the sermon note cards we provide during worship each Sunday morning to make notes and then spend a little time during the week to prayerfully re-engage the Scripture and ask God to show you what you need to do about it and then DO it!2. I'd encourage you to dig into materials that I use as source materials for the sermon. There's always a lot more to learn and work with than I can dish out in a sermon so feasting on 'extras' during the week will give you a much more balanced intake and help you grow better. In a few weeks we're starting the 'Me I Want to Be' Series that will last for 6 weeks that's based on the book by John Ortberg called, 'The Me I Want to Be'. Please get a copy and start reading through it. I'll be using a lot of concepts from Ortberg's work in those six weeks.
3. I also encourage you to take the MONVEE journey with us at Phos. We'll be sharing how you can engage in this journey during Worship in the weeks coming up. The MONVEE system is a way for you to discover how you're wired and how you can grow best in your walk with God. You'll hear more about it during the sermon series and our Groups will be digging into the MONVEE materials during those same six weeks. If I could make this step 'mandatory' for all people who really wanna grow I would because I think it will help you that much.
To win you gotta put a little skin in the game! Growing in any relationship, including your relationship with God, requires investments of passion, time, energy, money, and listening & learning about the other person [God]. You are saved by grace and invited into a a powerful relationship with Him that deserves the best you've got!
peace,
Jeff
