How to help Vicki and Scott's family in the time of his passing in the days ahead....

Phos Family and friends,

I wanted to pass along some sudden and heart rending news to you.  This morning Gregory Scott Heavrin, husband of Vicki Bironas, died suddenly.   He was out painting a new 'chicken coop' (it's really a small super nice play house with 'Pella' windows) preparing to house the 25 chicks that he and Vicki are raising in hopes of having lots of organic eggs in the near future. We're not sure what happened yet but he had just spoken to a good friend who was in for the weekend just 30 minutes before Vicki found him.

Arrangements are not yet fully determined, but we'll have a better idea and an update out around 3 PM tomorrow.

For now, pray and watch and get involved in one of the following ways:
1.  Email Theresa Stewart if you'd like to help with food at the Visitation at the Funeral Home in LaGrange (time TBD)
2.  Email Theresa Stewart if you'd like to help with food for the family and close friends following the funeral (time TBD)
3.  Login to the CareCalendar with the following information if you'd like to sign up to take a meal to the family in the weeks ahead
  • Care calendar login info.
  • ID 42545
  • Code 6832
  • 4.  Email Meredith Lewis if you'd be interested in helping finish construction of the 'chicken house'.  (time/date TBD)  We'll keep your info on file and when a plan shapes up we'll let you know when and how you can jump in and help.

God has entrusted us with the care of yet another family in the middle of crisis.  He trusts us an awful lot!  So, once again, let's dig deep, draw close to God and pray and care each other through.

    May Financial Report

Phos Crew, we had a solid month of giving in May 2010.

As reported earlier in the month we need $19,500 to be out of the 'red zone' on a monthly basis, but I appreciate how so many of you are stepping up stronger than ever.

Let's keep it up during the summer!

    Sunday

    Regular Offerings

    5/3/2010

    3,475.75

    5/10/2010

    4,743.00

    5/17/2010

    3,948.00

    5/24/2010

    5,707.00

    5/30/2010

    370.00

    Total

    18,243.75

Just a side bar for those of you who are "%" minded folks.  The $370 on 5/30/2010 should cause you to ask, 'What happened' there?' . Glad you asked.  That was the Sunday that we had over 80 folks on a Mission Trip to Estill County.  That's an indicator of Phos' 'Sending Capacity' which is one of our 'scorecard items' that we always want to pay attention to.  The resulting 'loss of $$' on that Sunday would be called 'Opportunity Cost' in business terms and should be measured into how you try to analyze %s around Phos.  We play a riskier road when we focus on 'GOING' and 'Being' the church instead of staying and talking about being the church.  We know this.  You can see here that that choice 'cost' us plenty!  That's a price that Phos Church is willing to pay and the paid servants are taking up the slack when these sorts of gaps occur.  So, you should calculate in the gap between a 'normal' Sunday and this Sunday to see how serious we are about 'going' and 'being' the Church of Christ on the move here, there, and everywhere.  And, then I hope it causes you to celebrate one more way that Phos is different.

    Thanks.

    Have a great day,

    Jeff
