How to escape your personal 'egypt' wherever that may be...

Escaping_your_egypt

We all face challenging times and sometimes we even have 'evil' bosses.

When you feel trapped like a Chilean Miner or Dead-ended like the Israelites at the Red-Sea the Bible unpacks 3 Powerful Principles in the Hebrew Story of Escaping Egypt over in Exodus 5 to 15.

It's a story complete with a show-down between God and Pharaoh (think, evil boss), a fist-fight between God and the little 'g' gods of Egypt that had captured the hearts & devotion of the Egyptians and maybe even many of the Israelites.  We're introduced to the celebration of 'Passover' where the blood of a lamb 'painted' on the doorposts of the Hebrew homes would protect their first born from death by the angel of death.  In the ultimate showdown between God & Pharaoh we see God bait the Egyptians to follow the Israelites into the middle of the red sea and then destroy the entire army when the waters are released back to their place.

Check out the image in this blog post to learn the 3 principles from the story that will help you escape your Egypt.
[I sure hope you'll make it to worship tomorrow at Phos Church where I'll be unpacking this whole story and helping you take action on these principles.]

Escaping Egypt Message Images and Scriptures for 10 17 10 at Phos Church

This week to help you prepare for worship let me give you a little 'homework' in addition to looking over the image set and praying for God to do something BIG in your life when we gather this Sunday....

1.  Read the entire story of Moses, Pharaoh and the Israelites Dead-ended at the Red Sea and the action of God to get them out of Pharaoh's grip.  Find it in Exodus 5 to 15.

2.  As you read the story use a highlighter or colored pencil to note every time that God says that He's gonna put a spotlight on His own Glory, His own Power, His own 'God-ness'.  Mark anywhere that God says that He's gonna do something to prove to Pharaoh and the Egyptians that He is the ONE TRUE GOD.

3.  Why does God use 10 Plagues to move Pharaoh and the Egyptians to set the Israelites free?

4.  Think about the whole 'Passover' Plan to protect the first born in the homes of the Israelites.  What action did God require and how is it a foreshadowing of the work that Christ has done for you and me in being the ultimate, once and for all, Passover Lamb?

5.  What can you learn about 'faith' from this story?  What does it mean to 'trust' God?  Are you willing to step into the unknown full of uncertain outcomes and risk it all to see what God might do?

Here's something that you can bank on .... God is Serious about His 'Glory'.  He's serious that we understand that He is God and that there are no other little 'g' gods worthy of our worship.  And, it's bigger than just God having an Ego complex.  It's that He dreamed us, designed us and knows what's best for us, so only in submitting to Him as our One and Only God can we live fully and become all that He dreamed for us. And, only in Him can we find our lives redeemed and sins forgiven by the work of Jesus Christ.

So, His seriousness about His God-ness is for our benefit.

Phos is still on Mission even when you are traveling ... FUEL the DREAM of Reaching this Community and Changing the World One person at a time...

When you are away from Phos we are still on mission to reach people who need to know Jesus.
Turn your intention to give into action every time with Online Giving -- even when you are away for whatever reason.

Many of us intend to give to grow in our faith in God and to show trust in His future provision.
But, how many times have you forgotten your check or gift in the car or at home or have been out of town?
It's happened to a lot of us.

Did you know that you can set up your bank's Online Banking Service to take care of sending your gifts automatically so that even when you can't be at Phos you can still propel Phos into an incredible future?  Turn your intentions into action every time using your bank's online payment system.

Ways you can propel Phos into an amazing future with your gifts even when you are away:
  • Use your bank's online banking system to set up regular contributions and turn your intention to give into action every single time even when you are away from Phos.
  • Send a check made payable to Phos Church to P.O. Box 333, Buckner, KY 40010
And, of course, when your back at any live gathering you can put your gifts in the offering baskets.
