This week to help you prepare for worship let me give you a little 'homework' in addition to looking over the image set and praying for God to do something BIG in your life when we gather this Sunday....
1. Read the entire story of Moses, Pharaoh and the Israelites Dead-ended at the Red Sea and the action of God to get them out of Pharaoh's grip. Find it in Exodus 5 to 15.
2. As you read the story use a highlighter or colored pencil to note every time that God says that He's gonna put a spotlight on His own Glory, His own Power, His own 'God-ness'. Mark anywhere that God says that He's gonna do something to prove to Pharaoh and the Egyptians that He is the ONE TRUE GOD.
3. Why does God use 10 Plagues to move Pharaoh and the Egyptians to set the Israelites free?
4. Think about the whole 'Passover' Plan to protect the first born in the homes of the Israelites. What action did God require and how is it a foreshadowing of the work that Christ has done for you and me in being the ultimate, once and for all, Passover Lamb?
5. What can you learn about 'faith' from this story? What does it mean to 'trust' God? Are you willing to step into the unknown full of uncertain outcomes and risk it all to see what God might do?
Here's something that you can bank on .... God is Serious about His 'Glory'. He's serious that we understand that He is God and that there are no other little 'g' gods worthy of our worship. And, it's bigger than just God having an Ego complex. It's that He dreamed us, designed us and knows what's best for us, so only in submitting to Him as our One and Only God can we live fully and become all that He dreamed for us. And, only in Him can we find our lives redeemed and sins forgiven by the work of Jesus Christ.
So, His seriousness about His God-ness is for our benefit.
