Hear / Speak / Do - How to Speak the Words of God into Your Life ...

Here's a quick installment I promised I'd post about how to speak (preach) to yourself from the Word of God to activate your faith.

Speaking God's Word is the bridge between hearing God's Word and Taking Action.  In James it tells us that Faith without Works is dead.  For you to get 'Big' in your relationship with God it will take faith.  Many of us are stuck because we 'think' and 'feel' towards God but we rarely get our hands and feet headed in the same direction as our heart and head.  To help us get 'unstuck' we need to learn to cross the bridge from 'thinking' about faith into 'doing' faith.  We cross the bridge and activate our faith muscles by speaking the Word(s) of God into our situation.

Steven Furtick covers this so well in Chapter 10 of Sun Stand Still that I want to share an excerpt from him here.  (I'm not gonna share it all out of respect to the copyright and the fact that I really would like for you to read the whole book!)

"If you want to get really good at walking in audacious faith, you're gonna have to get really good at preaching God's Word to yourself too.

You see, there are going to be many pints along the way when you're not going to have anyone around to motivate you or encourage you.  And in those moments, you'd better be able to open God's Word, look in the mirror, and remind yourself of the truth.  As you incorporate God's Word into your vocabulary, the way you see your circumstances will begin to shift.  Your faith will start to rise higher than your feelings and your fears.  And it all starts with speaking the Word.

I know yo may not feel competent to preach to yourself.  Maybe you don't know enough scripture verses to even get started.  I'm going to help you with my concise compilation of the Biblical principles that are most applicable to your daily life.  My 12 Audacious Faith Confessions aren't actual Bible Verses, but each one is based on the comprehensive teaching of God's Word.  So, whatever Circumstances you're facing in our life right now, you can begin to preach God's Word to yourself -- starting today.

Ready?  Let's preach.

12 Audacious Faith Confessions
1.  I am fully forgiven and free from all shame and condemnation  (Romans 8:1-2, Ephesians 1:7-8, I John 1:9)
3.  I have no fear or anxiety I trust in the Lord with all my heart (Proverbs 3:5-6, Philippians 4:6-7, I Peter 5:7).
6.  I have no insecurity , because I see myself the way God sees me.  (Genesis 1:26-27, Psalm 139:13-16, Ephesians 5:25-27)
7.  I am a faithful spouse (if you're single, you can slip future in there) and a godly parent--our family is blessed (Deuteronomy 6:6-9, Ephesisans 5:22-25, Colossians 3:18-19, I Peter 3:1-7)
8.  I am completely whole -- physically, mentally, and emotionally (Psalm 103:1-5, Matthew 8:16-17, 2 Corinthainas 5:17, I Peter 2:25).
9.  I am increasing in influence and favor for the kingdom of God (Genesis 45:4-8, I Samuel 2:26, Acts 2:37-47)
11.  I have the wisdom of the Lord concerning every decision I make (2 Chronicles 1:7-12, Proverbs 2:6, Ecclesiastes 2:26, James 1:5)

So, I hope you'll print these out and keep em where you can see them.  Start speaking the Word of God into your life and shift gears from merely thinking about God and feeling about things and into LIVING OUT YOUR FAITH.

Here's to becoming more Audacious that ever!

Have a great day,
Jeff

Keith Stewart Update from Jennie Stewart

Read this great update on Keith Stewart from Jennie.  But, before that let me point out a few things I want you notice that inspired me and I hope they will you as well....

1.  Notice that Robbie Mueller is vitally involved in helping Keith and Jennie along.  Robbie is a fantastic Small Group leader and if you don't have a group home you should definitely check his out.  The best way to insure that we can take care of you this way is for you to get ACTIVE in a Small Group.  There's simply no way you're gonna 'feel the love' like we want you to if you don't actively build relationships in a Small Group BEFORE life hits you hard.  So, please do yourself and let me help you find a group to belong to.

2.  Read how Jennie is tackling her challenge with Pneumonia by speaking the Word of God into the situation.  We talked about that in worship today and you can see Jennie activating her faith in the 'Hear / Speak / Do ' pattern of living out your faith.

Keith got home yesterday. It was a rough walk up the stairs but he did it!   Very thankful Robbie was here to help him. Getting around very well. I exercised him today and wore him out. He is being a great patient.  Learning to depend on others which is very new for him.     I love to serve him and so does his mom.
I am struggling with pneumonia.  I felt so good Tuesday and managed all day. I thought it was behind me.   Wednesday, the dr. said I still have it.   I hope I am getting better.  I will find out Tuesday when i go to the doctor again.  I was scared one day when my oxygen level went down.  Felt faint.  Opened God's word to Isaiah 12:1-3.  I had such a peace pass over me.  I don't have to fear anything happening  in my life.  I can trust God,he is my strength, he is my salvation, my joy. Praise God!
Miss being at church.  Hopefully next week.
Thanks for your prayers and support

p.s.  Please add our gratitude for the prayers, concerns and calls of so many from Phos. What a great church family we have!

Setting Yourself Up to Succeed! Message Image Set for November 7 2010 at Phos.

Your mentors and your mouth will cause you to rise or fall.

Our choice of who we'll run with and what we'll talk about determine our destiny.  Joshua 1 gives us powerful tools to learn how to set ourselves up to succeed in following God into the life He has prepared for us.  Powerful principles of Mentor Choice and Proper Mouthiness play out in this story.  Can't wait to get into this on Sunday with you because it will help you get on with the fantastic plans God has for you.

Please pray for the Curry family.  In-Patient insurance has run out for Dwayne's mom to be able to stay in assisted living.  She requires 24 hour a day care and will now be coming home to live with them.
