5 "Aha" Marriage Tips You Need to Know: Part 2

#2 - Attitude affects actions.

The reason attitudes are so important is that they affect my behavior and words. I may not be able to control my environment: sickness, alcoholic spouse, teenager on drugs, aging parents, etc. but I am responsible for what I do within my environment. My attitude will greatly influence my behavior.

If I look for the positive in my marriage, then I'm more likely to talk positively: give my spouse affirming words, and to do something that has the potential for enhancing life for both of us.

On the other hand, if I focus on the negative, I'm more likely to give my spouse critical, condemning words. This type of behavior will often result in one of two actions:

  1. I'll do things to hurt my spouse, or
  2. I'll withdraw and consider leaving my spouse.
Yes, my attitude affects my actions.

Pray for Marvin Wenz and Wanda as Marvin is recovering from Back Surgery that he had this morning...

Marvin and Wanda Wenz are 'game changers' at Phos Community Church. When they came our way a little over a year ago they dove right in and began to serve on Sunday mornings and to connect in Robbie Mueller's LXG [Life Transformation Group]. They've added a lot to our community here at Phos. Please pray for Marvin as he's in recovery after having back surgery this morning. Of course Wanda will cary a lot of weight during his recovery so let's pray for them and reach out to help them as you can.

peace,

Lots of Dirt if Getting Moved Around at 4200 -- Here's Why ….

Next time you come to worship at our Phos Community Church Outpost over at 4200 Centerfield Drive you'll notice that LOTS of dirt is being moved around and hauled in, etc.  We are simply preparing for the future of Phos Community Church.  We've been given the opportunity to have a lot of 'fill dirt' brought in because of the Water Main project near us and so we're capitalizing on that.  It will look ugly for several months but we are preparing for a 'bright' future here at Phos and this is one more step in that direction.  The basic plan is to bring some of the low lying areas up as much as possible and then to put our top soil back in place and reseed the lawn for the future.  Thanks in advance for inviting your friends to Phos and explaining to them ahead of time to 'ignore' the progress underway and just get them to the Cafe' a few minutes before worship starts and get em connected and we'll be all good!

Glad to be on the journey with you!
Peace,
Jeff Fuson

Please Pray for the Fuson Family -- Especially Julie Kent Fuson and her father, Wallace Kent these days

I'm so glad to be a part of a Praying Church community.

Earlier today I was working with Sarah Nichter on an editing project she's taking on for Phos Community Church and the topic of prayer came up and I was reminded that Prayer is Not about What WE can do, it's about What God Can Do.  Prayer ushers in the power of the almighty and His Spirit is unleashed into the situation at hand.  So, lift us up to the Father today, please.

Julie's dad, Wallace Kent, is wrestling with complications related to his breathing.

We're not really sure all that's happening but do know that Wallace Kent, a retired Pastor in Frankfort, loves to go and be out in the community and that this breathing issue has really cramped his style over the past several weeks.  He spent some time in the hospital in Frankfort a few weeks ago and came home with a portable oxygen tank which I'm pretty sure he doesn't use!  Today he really was struggling and was taken to Central Baptist in Lexington by Julie's brother, Stephen.  He is there presently and we are waiting to learn more about his prognosis.

So, pray for courage, strength, and for the right team of Medical professionals to come around Wallace and help him get back up and running and pastoring.  He's become know as Frankfort's Pastor and it's a title well earned after being there for over 40 years doing more weddings and funerals than any of us could keep count of.  Also, pray for Julie's mom, Bettye Zoe as she walks this road with Wallace and the 6 kids.

Pray especially for Julie in these days as she is the oldest of the six children and has a very special space in her heart for her dad.

Peace,
Jeff Fuson
